Participant characteristics are poorly reported in exercise trials in tendinopathy: A systematic review

To evaluate the reporting of eligibility criteria and baseline participant characteristics in randomised controlled trials investigating effects exercise interventions tendinopathy. Randomised therapy compared to a non-exercising intervention upper lower limb tendinopathy were included. Data extraction was categorised into following domains: demographics, descriptors, general health, recruitment criteria. The review included tendinopathies: Achilles (n = 9), gluteal 2), lateral elbow 15), patellar 3) plantar 3), rotator cuff 13). Age, sex, duration symptoms symptom severity commonly reported across review, while prior history poorly (6/45). Variables such as physical activity level (17/45), sleep (0/45), psychological factors (2/45), medication at (8/45), co morbid health complaints (10/45) sociodemographic (11/45) studies. Substantial variation existed between studies specific used. findings this systematic demonstrate that are improve effectiveness tendinopathy, improved may allow better comparisons targeted for subgroups.
